The crash took place around 5:56 a.m., Friday, April 26, about a mile past the Sherwood Island Connector, said the Connecticut State Police.
Once on the scene, Westport firefighters confirmed the crash and the truck down an embankment.
"Crews checked the truck of signs of entrapment or injuries, both were negative," they reported on Facebook.
State police said the crash occurred after the driver, Lawrence Leroy Noone, 46, of Easton, Pennsylvania, lost control of the struck the metal beam guardrail, breached the guardrail and traveled down a steep embankment striking trees and brush.
Noone was issued a ticket for failure to maintain lane, state police said.
No major backups were reported during the morning commute.
